FNAIT prophylaxis

The basic mechanism of the FNAIT prophylaxis is that is removes the HPA-1a antigen from the foetus before the mother has time to develop an immune response against the antigen.

All that is needed is a single injection of antibodies against HPA-1a within the first 72 hrs after a HPA-1a negative woman has given birth. A subsequent foetus will no longer be at risk of FNAIT.
